Welcome to HLOC
In December of 1973 when the curtains went up on the first Humboldt Light Opera production of Amahl and the Night Visitors, the company founders probably had no idea how successful the organization would become.
Although community is not in our name, it has always been at the heart of our organization. Our goal since 1973 has been to bring musical theatre to the people of our community - not just as a viewing experience, but also as a performing experience for those who have dreamed of taking the stage themselves.
Hannah Dandelion and the Troublemakers
Hannah Dandelion and The Troublemakers are making their jazz/pop trio debut, November 23 at 7:30 p.m. at HLOC’s S.P.A.C.E., 92 Sunny Brae Center, Arcata. The newly formed group will be singing jazz, blues, and pop songs with a bit of little American standards mixed in.
Hannah Dandelion Davis (vocals), is a senior at Arcata High who has been performing for HLOC for seven years. She was seen as Dorothy in last summer’s Wizard of Oz. Bill Ryder (drums and vocals), is an award winning drummer. He is also well known to Humboldt County audiences for numerous roles with HLOC included Matthew in the recent Anne of Green Gables. Steve Russin (guitar and vocals), started playing guitar and singing at an early age both in the L.A. area and locally. Guest flutist Jill Petricca, a regular with Eureka Symphony, will add her musical flair to the group.
Joining the Troublemakers are James Gadd (guitar and vocals) and Fiona Gadd-Ryder (vocals) who will be singing Surf Rock for the concert. These two performers are also well known to musical theatre audiences having appeared as Bert and Mary in “Mary Poppins” and the Tinman and Glenda in “Wizard of Oz.”
These talented artists are performing to benefit the re-flooring of the dance studio in the Sunny Brae Performing Arts Center for Education. Donations at the door.
Seating is limited in the S.P.A.C.E. Email: email@example.com to reserve your seat.
