Where Stories Come Alive!

In December of 1973 when the curtains went up on the first Humboldt Light Opera production of Amahl and the Night Visitors, the company founders probably had no idea how successful the organization would become.

Although community is not in our name, it has always been at the heart of our organization. Our goal since 1973 has been to bring musical theatre to the people of our community – not just as a viewing experience, but also as a performing experience for those who have dreamed of taking the stage themselves.

HLOC Turns Fifty!

It’s hard to believe HLOC has been producing family musicals and teaching musical theatre to all ages for a half of a century.   What a legacy of shows HLOC has produced, from Mary Poppins and Shrek to Oklahoma and Pirates of Penzance.  The past two and one half years have certainly challenged HLOC to keep moving as an organization while being mindful of everyone’s health.   The company is grateful for our amazing Northcoast community that has supported HLOC and its educational programs while we wait to return to the stage.

Your contribution on Giving Tuesday would be an investment in HLOC’s future family musicals. It will also ensure that our Sunny Brae Center for Arts Education stays open for all types of community classes.  Plans for a spring HLO KidCO production and HLOC summer musical are being developed.   You can make an impact on HLOC’s Golden Anniversary Year by making a tax deductible donation today.

Thank you for your continued support!
