Humboldt Light Opera Company

proudly presents...

Want to audition for HLOC's summer 2008 production of "The Wizard of Oz"?  Youth must have KidCo experience to be eligible.

HLO KidCo is a musical theater training program of Humboldt Light Opera Company.  The goal if the KidCo program is to provide quality education in the skills of musical theater.  Singing, dancing and acting are taught through standard musical theater repertoire and in combination with theater games and stage etiquette.  At the end of each session we give a workshop performance showcasing skills the students are developing.

Spring 2008 Session Begins February 2nd.

Children who participate in a performing arts program learn about themselves and the world around them.

Teaching children the joy of music, the excitement and challenge of creativity and the value of collaboration, teaches beneficial life skills:

  • To learn a song, a child must focus on rhythm, reflect on meaning, polish the delivery, and see the task all the way through.
  • To stage a scene, a child must know how to listen and follow directions.
  • To create a play, a child must collaborate, communicate and compromise.
  • To perform all of these, a child must take a deep breath, stand tall, and take a risk!

For all of this hard work, these children will be rewarded by the applause of an appreciative audience. But more than that, they will be rewarded by a sense of pride, an understanding of accomplishment, and that unique, powerful feeling that they have touched others through the timeless gift of music.

For these reasons, and more, the Humboldt Light Opera Company is dedicated to bringing HLOC KidCo to the children of Humboldt County. Click here to learn more about KidCo.
