     Biscotti  a la Humboldt Light Opera in the Piazza


1.Entry rules:

The HLOC Biscotti contest applications can be submitted from July 15-July 28, 2009. Twelve biscotti and the recipe used will be accepted for judging on July 28 from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m. No biscotti will be accepted before or after the times and date indicated.  No biscotti will be accepted without submission of the recipe used. Biscotti can be taken to Threadbare Dancewear, on the second floor of the Plaza Design building in Arcata.

2.Eligibility:

a.The contest is open to residents of Humboldt County.

b.Children under 16 years are eligible to enter the youth category.

3.Categories:

a.Adult

b.Youth

4.Contest Guidelines:

a.Each submitted recipe must include the name of the recipe, readily available ingredients, standard U.S. measurements, and written to make at least one dozen biscotti cookies.

b.Each ingredient must be listed on the recipe in the order it is used, followed by complete, step-by-step cooking instructions, including baking times and temperature used.

c.Submission of recipe indicates that the contestant owns copyright to the recipe and will allow HLOC to print it in promotional materials for the upcoming musical, Light in the Piazza. 

5.Judging:

a.Judging will be done on July 21 using the following guidelines

-Taste

-Texture

-Visual appeal

6.Winners selection:

a.Qualified entries in each category will be judged anonymously by a panel of food professionals, biscotti lovers.

  1. b.One finalist will be named in each category, and the Grand Prize Winner will be selected from the semifinalists.

7.Contest Prize: Four tickets to opening night for Light in the Piazza (or the performance of your choice); recipe will be featured in the Times Standard and at the performances. 

8.General Conditions:

a.Finalists will be required to execute documents of eligibility, release from liability, and transfer of their winning recipe to HLOC. By entering the contest, all participants consent to the use of the names, pictures, likenesses, and recipes (with rights to edit or adapt those recipes) without compensation.
